My tribe has been looking forward to seeing “A Walk in the Woods” for a couple weeks. We enjoyed a matinee of it today in Winchester. I’m not sure if the Nick Nolte/Robert Redford senior citizen characters hiked slower or faster than we did crossing Shenandoah Natl Park three years ago, but it was nice to see them tackling many of the same issues. Queue twenty-something super hikers racing past with trekking poles a-flying.
The movie itself probably won’t win any awards. I think Estevez’ movie “The Way” is a better hiking movie. I do like how the movie gets used to being quiet. Like when you hike into town and feel a little stunned by the unfamiliar traffic.
